Dobré ráno from Prague!

Tour day! We woke early to meet our guide, only to find the city wrapped in drizzle and gray skies. Instead of wandering gardens, our tour began indoors, where we admired medieval monastic libraries—

Quiet spaces filled with centuries of artifacts and gorgeous frescos.

When the clouds finally lifted, we stepped outside to sweeping views of Prague from the castle grounds.

Rising above it all is the Gothic sandstone cathedral, whose construction stretched from the 1300s into the early 1900s as priorities shifted over the centuries.

Check out those flying buttresses! If we get up in time, we plan to explore its vast interior tomorrow.

Our guide wove together layers of Prague’s history and architecture, with one highlight being the world’s oldest functional astronomical clock in Old Town Square.

Built in 1410, it still tracks the phases of the moon, the seasons, and the zodiac—a marvel of medieval engineering.

After bidding farewell to our guide, we spent the rest of the day wandering Prague’s winding streets, sampling hearty Czech food and warming spirits along the way.

Not exactly thrilled Bob caught this moment… but it perfectly sums up how we felt after ending our day with Czech plum brandy.

We ended the day with some wonderful Italian food (we really needed a break from hearty Czech food)! We’re both really looking forward to getting on our bikes in a few days to begin our cycle route… and burn off some of these calories!

Until tomorrow!
